An Introduction to The Platinum Group Fund
The Platinum Group Fund (TPGF) has been set up off the back of the successful events organised over the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Weekend in June 2022. A small group of Clyst Hydon Villagers who are independent of the existing village Groups, helped organise and run several events over the weekend that ended up raising more money than expected. It was decided that we would set up a Group to manage these funds and put them to good use for the village.
The purpose of the Group is to plan, organise and run future events in the village throughout the year. We want to continue to help bring the Community together and run fun and engaging events that will appeal to all.
Whilst TPGF is independent of the other existing village groups we wish to collaborate and work with them to run and host these events by sharing resources and ultimately bolstering what is already a fantastic Village and community here in Clyst Hydon and surrounding villages. We hope that working together it will strengthen the relationships between the Groups and the Groups themselves.
We propose holding meetings with representatives from each of the existing Groups to discuss how we can all better support each other going forward and discuss plans for upcoming events next year.
The Group is an Unincorporated Association and we have set up a community bank account to hold the funds and manage them going forward. The initial amount deposited in the account from the Jubilee weekend events was £1190.
The Management Committee comprises of Hannah Dwane – Chair,
Amy Durkin Secretary and
Emma Russo – Treasurer – as elected at our inaugural AGM on 8th November 2023.
Since setting the fund up we have donated some funds to the Puddleducks Village Group and went on to design and sell Kings Coronation Enamel mugs to sell to the community. Other events were also planned for the Coronation weekend but had to be cancelled due to the horrible weather that weekend.
Regular Events organised by TPGF
We plan to host two parties a year – a Christmas / New Years Eve party and a Summer party, these will take on different formats / activities each year and we welcome/ encourage anyone interested in helping or anyone that has ideas for any kind of event to get in touch with us. We also hope to continue the Dimbledon tennis tournament every year.
We are willing to help fund independent events run by others that benefit the community too – please get in touch with us to find out more.
If you would like to see a copy of our constitution and / or would like to formally join the Group we have a membership form for anyone that would like to be kept updated with our plans and/or would like to offer any kind of help in relation to running events in the future – please get in touch and we can email you the form and a copy of our constitution or you can find copies in the bus shelter.
